Day One for another adventure

Bill and I were on the road at 7:30 this morning.  We were half hour into our trip when Bill noticed a Fifth wheel RV that was passing us had a flat tire.  He honked his horn a few times and they finally pulled over.  We know it pays to have a tire pressure monitoring system.  Around one o'clock our daughter Heather called us from her class room.  She was teaching the grade fours all about technology.  They could not believe that they were talking to their teachers parents so far away on a cell phone.  She was going to show them on a map just how far away we were.  They were full of questions about Texas.  Bill and I got quite a kick out of this.  We had lunch in the truck.  Bill likes to munch while he is driving so I make lunch part of his munching.  We stopped for a break at Buc-ee's,which is 300 miles N.E. of Retama on Hwy. 59. I ended up buying a wall hanging and a tile of a scene that reminded me of a street scene we saw while on our cruise.  This is a great place to stop for a break.  Clean washrooms, one that your mother would approve of ( that was on a bill board} and a lot of great things to look at and buy if you want.  This is a must stop.  Check  out the pictures at their web site http://buc-ees.com/wharton.htm .  We then travelled the rest of the way to Gulf Coast RV Resort in Beaumont, Tx.  The sites are long enough that we did not have to discount and we were on cement pads. It  was $l7.50 with our Passport America.   They offer a continental breakfast.     We had some rain but it stopped just as we got to the campground.    It was a long travel day but also a good travel day.  A new adventure has started with more to come.

  1. Yay, Kathie! We'll happily follow you two and will be sure to clear the beer cans and burger wrappers from your driveway before you get back! You know how we all love to party! Just kidding!
